Merry Effing Christmas

"Come they told me
pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see,
pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring
pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King
pa rum pum pum pum
rum pum pum pum
rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him
pa rum pum pum pum,
when we come."

You Dirty Carni

"They will see us waving from such great
Heights, 'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'come down now,' but we'll stay..."

-Such Great Heights, The Postal Service

The creepy carnival has hit town and what better way to touch my childhood heart than to hit it up with 3 of the coolest kids I know.
I also thought it was the perfecto opportunity to take a snap shot of the amazing 'Poppy Collar' giveaway piece and announce the winner!!!!
(sorry I'm a tad late, I have been surfing like 3 times a day lately!)
On top of all that I also wanted to show you the new dress I made! I wore it to our 'Secret Garden' lunch the other day (below) but didn't really give you a dirty proper look at it.
This (a fancier version) is what I want to wear on my wedding day.
Hold your effing horses I'm not getting married! If I was you would surely know about it! Promise.
Carni's, fairy floss, too many baby lightbulbs to ever count, kids shooting things, clowns with rotating heads,  teenagers on mushrooms…it doesn't get much more entertaining than this!
I even took some shots of cowboy eating a dagwood dog that look so rude I can hardly glance at them without getting personally upset and I absolutely could NOT show you on here. I would need an 18+ warning.
After getting absolutely effing slammed in the dodgem area (which, by the way, is so effing dangerous!both my knees are brushed and I'm fairly certain I have actual physical whiplash!) here is a sum up of the utter weirdness and undoubtable awesomeness of my carnival experience.
Enjoy!xx

Secret Garden

"Would you believe in a love at first sight?
Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light?
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,
Oh, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends"
-With a little help from my friends, The Beatles

Holy Holy Heck.
I'm a little overwhelmed with how exactly to explain the amazingness of the extravagant lunch I was lucky enough to be a part of Sunday.
Perhaps I should begin the explanation with a story (I have Christmas ham as a brain right now and I'm not in a rhyming mood, so if you were keen for another poem you'll just have to sit tight.!)
My beautiful friend Christelle's other half is Jonathan Barthelmess. He is (among other things) head chief and creative genius of Manly Pavilion Dining Room and Bar. Whilst having a cocktail out of a tomato at Shady Pines one evening and giggling out of excitement for our friend Emily's recent engagement our brains began wandering for a lunch we could pull together in celebration. Jonathan casually said: "why don't you girls come up with a theme for the lunch, and I will match it to the menu" a.k.a he developed a 6 course banquet specifically and specially for us! We obviously, without hesitation, jumped straight on that band wagon (der) and here we are!
We decided on the theme 'The Secret Garden'.
Heres our adventure of fine food dining, and having the other tables continuously asking the waiters why our table was so fancy, and why we were getting special treatment! mwahaha!
Before...
30 years After!
Thank you Thank you Jonathan!!!!!!We'll be bAaAaAaAaAaACK!
If you need a venue for any kind of celebration this festive season, I strongly reccommend Manly Pavilion.

The Wanderer

"I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight

Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down."
-Bang Bang, Nancy Sinatra

Those of you who know me will know how excited I am for this collection of Winer 2011 to hit the stores.
This is the second last collection I designed for One Teaspoon, after a 3 year love affair, so come June next year you'll probably notice a shift in vibe.
For this shoot, we headed to the snowy mountains of N.S.W in a family van, and I was super stoked to have baby Bambi  right on board.
I had first met her at a friends wedding a couple of months previous, before the universal Bambi bomb of epicness had been dropped on the fashion world. As soon as my eyes hit her there was no looking back. When I flew back to Sydney I went straight into Jamie's office and declared: "Jamie, I have found the One Teaspoon girl. Lets book her right now before everyone else gets their dirty little paws on her!" (Little did I know she had already shot for every other Australian brand that ever did live!)
She is, after all, every designers dream love child.
For this collection we were really diggin' long silhouettes, and an effortless winter vibe, mixing vintage inspired lace and chiffons with humungor chunky knits and worn out leather.
This shoot proved to be the funnest, most rewarding one I have ever been a part of. (I did nearly get trampled by 8 foot wild brumby's and was constantly worried that Bambi would fall dead from hypothermia, but all in all, the shots and location blew my mind).
I was going to wait until the collection launches in Jan to share this with you, but Knight Cat has just posted about it so here we are!
I hope you like it...xx

I think the coolest thing with this campaign is the short film by Jack Shanahan.
To really get the vibe watch it : VIDEO

Naughty or Nice?

"Got no sleigh with reindeer
No sack on my back
You're gonna see me comin' in a big black caddilac
Oh, it's Christmas time pretty baby
And the snow is falling on the ground
Well you be a real good little baby
Santa Claus is back in town"
- Santa Claus is back in town, Elvis Presley

Oh my little beloveds, have a got a festive season treat for you!
Emily Sarks, has donated to the Cowboy Geisha cause! (sounds like some sort of twisted charity doesn't it!)
She has amazingly given one of her 'Poppy Collars' from her latest Stolen From Collection for one lucky loveboat to win! Competition will end this Sunday (please remember how I do like to give presents on a Sunday!) This is 100% because I want to get it to you before christmas, as this garment is the perfect Christmas Day accessory!

So here's what to do…go grab a pen and paper (orrrrrr since you are on a computer, get ready to copy and paste? derrrrr. Please excuse my morning brain)
1. Smile because it is Friday! (hooray!)
2. Become a 'follower' of The Cowboy Geisha on Bloglovin or Blogger
3. If you are a follower on Bloglovin you must 'like' this post. Or, if you are a follower on Blogger, you must comment on this post telling me what you would like to see more of on The Cowboy Geisha in the new year!

Peggy Sue

"Oh Billy Lee your my girl (woah woah woah)
I don't recall saying that you were (woah woah woah)
And I've been smoking in your bed (woah woah woah)
Your puttin' all your butts out on the floor (woah woah woah)

Oh Maggie May your my girl (woah woah woah)
I don't recall saying that you were (woah woah woah)
Your clipping your toenails in the bed(woah woah woah)
You leave your dirty undies on the floor (woah woah woah)"
-Billy Lee, Maggie May, Peggy Sue, Goons of Doom

Remember Amy?Oh yes you do! My 70s Playboy Barbie Doll.
Well here is the trailer trash shoot I have been promising.
Alice Boshell behind the lens, and me pouring the vodka over ice (better known as directing and styling). Im really vibing 'tacky Australia' at the moment and wanted to do a shoot with dirty sunshine lighting,  highlighting our culture with BBQ's on the balcony and slushees from 7-eleven. I guess landing back in Australia from being away for quite a while, I saw it all with a new perspective. Thats right, after hitting up all the 'concrete jungles where dreams are made of' (I literally cant stop this lyrics banter can I?!) it has really hit me slap bang bop in the face how unique Australia is. I'm really into it. We are a kooky bunch, and Im fairly certain no-one else on the planet (except for the cool kids from New Zealand, mainly just because they are a swim away) really understands what the heck we are on about half the time. Awesome.
Anyway, heres a little poem to set the scene before you delve into your eyeball candy.

Her daddy drinks Jack,
and her man owns a caravan
She can ride bareback,
and she ain't got no plan
Her cars got flames,
she don't remember names
She owns a cockatoo and can play a didgeridoo,
You gotta love my Peggy Sue.

Copacabana Part I

"At the Copa, Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the Copa, Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love"

-Copacabana, Barry Manilow

There is a little sleepy town on Sydney's Central Coast where my darling friend Phoebe of 'Stop Making Sense Now' has an epic 70s holiday home, right smack BANG on the beach.
Phoebe is one half of the jewellery label we have started together (coming sooooon!), and she is also my Gypsy in crime (sounds like a cool song doesn't it "my gypsy in crime"- screamed in a Bon Jovi 'living on a prayer' voice), selling off our lives at various markets each week. You have already met her in her dusty pink fur coat here.
We decided to hop on the next train going nooooo where (now Im in that mood where everything I want to say is becoming lyrics from a song! Ok I'll stop.) In real life we hoped on a train to the coast to discover the most amazing hidden vintage shops, see a psychic, drink wine and brainstorm ideas and inspirations for our collection, find the appropriate 'bits' needed to get it rollin and play dress-ups with all our new finds!
The only downside to this love boat story is that it rained 100% of the time we stayed there, and therefore it wasn't necessarily classified as a 'summer holiday'. Everything happens for a reason and with that I'm 100% sure we would not have done one ounce of work if the sun was shining.
I'm also 100% aching to show you our love children jewellery pieces, and I will make a solid promise to you right now…I Celeste, do solemnly swear, to give you the opportunity to get your dirty little hands on one of our creations before this year is over! (perhaps even before Christmas so you can grab a last minute present…for yourself!)
So seriously stay tuned.
Happy Wednesday!

Down the Rabbit Hole

"…and there´s gold falling from the ceiling of this world
falling from the heartbeat of this girl
falling from the things we should have learned
falling from the things we could have heard "

-And the boys, Angus and Julia Stone

I'd like you all to meet my beautiful friend Emily Sarks!
A super talented jack-of-all-trades she designs and creates her own collections for her love child label 'Stolen From', she is a celebrity make-up artist, and to top it all off… a costume designer and maker for such things as the new Art vs Science music video.
You can spot her a mile away with her white blonde afro (never without a bow in it!), a vintage inspired dress, immaculate nails and lipstick to boot!
Today I jumped over to her studio to get a sneaky glimpse of where the magic happens and have a little sewing bee together. (fruits of our labor coming soon and in post below)
Folk music blaring, eating apples and playing dress-ups with all of her costumes, I have a baby feeling in my heart that this may become a regular occurance.

Everything this woman makes I want in my wardrobe, and I know you will feel the same when you check it on out. It is vintage Alice in Wonderland/little bow peep deliciousness with a sneaky hint of naughty splashed in there at the last minute! (a little bit of naughty goes a long way). I use her stuff for styling alot, especially when playing dress-ups with Julia Stone, and I loved using her vintage inspired lingere on Rose here
There is nothing else quite like it, and noone else quite like little miss Emily Sarks!
Here are some snaps of my favorite picks from her last collection. I almost want to use the "F" word! (refreign restrain!) and some snaps of us in her her studio!
p.s my hot to trot girls Christmas/Emily's engagement 'Secret Garden' theme lunch is this Sunday and I literally cannot wait! It will be candy for the eyes and mouths! stay tuned love boat loverrrrrrrs.
p.p.s welcome welcome to all the new lovers out there. I love you back xx

Emily looking super cute in vintage, and me looking a little too fleshy (its not my fault it was the heat!) in Cotton On lace tee and American Apparel skirt, flower crown off Emily's rack, vintage Karl Lagerfeld glasses and Berliner vintage boots

Cactus Cool

"Oow

Friends say it's fine, friends say it's good
Ev'rybody says it's just like Rock and Roll
I move like a cat, charge like a ram
Sting like a bee, babe I wanna be your man
Well it's plain to see you were meant for me, yeah
I'm your boy, your 20th century toy"
-20th Century Boy, T. Rex

There ain't nothin cooler than a cactus, and in this unbearable humidity I am literally grasping at straws (or spikes?)Please excuse my whingy mood, I just tried to go for a surf and the water is a few degrees from freezing with not a wave in sight.
It's one of those days where you end up having a cold shower five times in a row for some sort of relief!
I had a little sewing bee with my good friend Emily (that rhymes!) and knocked up this little number.
Its a super epic dirty grey chiffon oversized tee.
You can hardly see it in these polaroids but alas my camera has no batter-y
The charger has a Hong Kong prong but I am in Sydne-y
(have you figured out I am rapping yet?)
Anyway its a little risk-y (still going)
So it needed to be teamed with something that would distract from my tits, and I found the most perfect thing!
Its a printed spandex jersey skirt, with a printed gypsy band across the front. Im in actual love with it.
When I went to a fortune teller the other day they said I woud meet the love of my life in April, but I think I just met it? ohhhhhhhhhhhh she ment a man? silly me.
Alice McCall pieces have always been a favourite of mine, and she is beauty on a stick. Miss you Al.
Thank you to my spunky little sister Bryony for snapping the polaroids. xx
